We ran initial workshops with the Founders and Coders team in order to better understand their current brand, their identity and values and their vision for the future of the organisation.

Following this, we conducted interviews with users of the old Founders and Coders website, in order to better understand their motives. We used our findings to create user personas, helping us to gain valuable insight and ensure the users’ needs were met.

We also involved the community, including current students and alumni, at various stages of the design and development proccess. This way we knew that the new site would represent the diversity of voices that make up Founders and Coders in the best way possible.

The final designs are composed of a rich fabric of influences and inspirations which guided us through this creative process — from contemporary web design to modern art movements. Our overarching goal was to create a welcoming and playful environment composed of marks, signs and emblems. These represent snippets of code and symbols which appear simple in the abstract but, like individuals in a community, form something altogether more magical when put together.
